My child and I’s support puppy was tragically killed in a hit and run car accident in front of me. A man I had a few dates with 6-7 years ago has just again tried to chat me up on LinkedIn and it's very weird. I've just ignored him, but I think it's time to block this one. He has periodically sent an innocuous Hi/Hello/Happy Holiday DM once every 9-18 months or so since we met and can't take a hint. I met Hubs 5 years ago and we've been married for 4 years now. I've just had a 2nd baby. I don't want to be his friend. I barely freaking knew him. WTAF is wrong with these dudes?? #NoAdvice

I was surprised how few occurrences of #noadvice there were when I clicked it. But I suppose posts with it in are likely to be unlisted or followers-only ones anyway, meaning it won't come up.

Interesting. I checked the #noadvice tag to see how people are using it, and it wasn't long before I found a post containing the phrases "it's not that difficult" and "how to use the mute and block buttons".

(Though, TBF, I think it was in a discussion that was really about something else.)

But still: "You should just do B" never a helpful response to "Please don't do A". Maybe the person is tired of having to do B because you can't refrain from A? Maybe that's why they're asking you to stop?

Work is stressful at the moment, for reasons including the fact that we are moving office in January. I think I may take my knitting with me for lunchtime read-and-knit stress busting.

I work in a law firm, in property. We have no file storage in New Office. We need to become actually paperless, not just technically paperless.

Big plus: New Office has working heating and air con, so whatever else it is 100% better than Old Office. #NoAdvice #Knitting #LegalLife #LegalSecretary

Tomorrow, there’s a viewing for one of my dad’s relatives. Normally, I go to any and all viewings for extended family, but I just can’t bring myself to go to this one. This person was not nice to me, calling me “too sensitive” online after a really bad incident in college (the Creative Writing Incident; more on that later) and doubling down on the rudeness in person. And honestly, I just don’t think they deserve a visit from someone whose feelings they’ve deeply hurt. #noadvice #noreply

Social media has become very similar to what it was in the mid-2010s, and it's been triggering a lot of bad memories from that time. And it's nonstop. Thankfully, Mastodon hasn't been affected by this, but almost all other platforms have. Ugh. There is nothing fun about buying a car. Neither my partner nor I are car people, so trying to make decisions based on reviews where one person says best car ever, and the next says, omg this is the worst car ever, is doing our heads in.

Please can I just have a car that is reliable and not cost the earth in maintenance? Is that too much to ask for?
