Last weekend @noagendatea made mention of his friendship with Rico Rodriguez. This week he was supposed to enlighten us with some details of that bond. In its place I'll tip my hat with a share from this trombone master.
This was the first time I had come across Rodriguez, here lending a nice spin to a classic Skatalites sound.

What's better than Ska? Live Ska! The Slackers are the creme de la creme of the modern day ska scene, honing their craft and bringing the thunder since the early 90's. No band throws down a live set like them. Strap on a bib and get to work chewin' on this Shankbone.

Y'kow who else loves the ska? Candanavians. In these crazy, uncertain times of these Mother WEFer's psychopathic overreach, the Planet Smashers would like to remind us all to keep on fighting. Will do, boys.

Time to drop the needle on some Saturday Ska selections. No real theme today beyond some good fun vibes. And let's be honest here, that's what ska does best.
What do I see? I See Spot.

The Vaccinators is a great name for a ska band formed by members of the #NoAgendaSaturdaySkaSocialClub @GeraldGreen

You will all remember the James Bond movie, Dr No. As apposed to No Doctor, that many are saying now.
There are a couple of moments when we get to see the band who were making such a great sound to my seven-year old ears.
This bonus clip is to introduce Byron Lee and his Dragonaires, an 18-piece band who were responsible for starting my interest in Jamaican music.

Not to overdo it, but couldn't resist this as I'm here paying tribute to the oldies. Go Jimmy Go had and epic farewell show when they finally called it quits back in 2017. They wrapped it up with a dynamite medley. If you have the time or the inclination, the whole concert is worth a go.

And of course, let's not forget Mr. Desmond Dekkar. Often called the King of the Ska, he definitely has a place on the Mt. Rushmore of Ska. I had the pleasure of seeing him live on a small stage with Deals Gone Bad in Chicago back in 2003(?). His stage presence was legit.

Let's ride the vintage train today because there's just no matching that original ska sound. Up next, Justin Hinds and the Dominoes have some sage advice for us all in these unique and uncertain times.

Saturday, Saturday, Ska! Ska! Ska!
Thank you @noagendatea for dropping the early set hat tip towards Prince Buster. As he is my favorite of the old timey ska originators, I'll throw a respect drop to the Prince as well. Orange street can always use a good shake up.

Such was Buster´s influence on a new British band that One Step beyond was the name of their debut album, their first record in 1979 was dedicated to him, while the B-side was another of Busters` ska hits, and from where the band took their name. Madness.

The first #Ska-turday tune of today’s trilogy starts with the grandfather of Ska, Cecil Bustamente Campbell, known professionally as Prince Buster.
Little did Buster know that when he wrote his tunes that one of his byproducts would be popular on #noagendashow sixty years later

Saturday Ska-Drop no.3
Last of the day. Johnny Socko was greatly underrated in my opinion, but were a staple here
in the Mid-West where the coast bands didn't venture to often. Saw them countless times, and won several Socko dance contests at the show.
Consummate entertainers. This one's a toe-tapper.

Saturday ska-drop no.2
Skavoovie and the Epitones had such a clean, big band sound. One of my favorite bands to this day. This is 2-fer as it is a tip of the cap to the one man ska band maestro Chris Murray (Originally of King Apparatus)

Welcome all to this week's NoAgendaSaturdaySkaSocialClub. Shout out to @noagendatea for starting things off with a triple shot of tasty tracks to set the table.
I'm feeling a 90's 3rd-wave kind of mood today. So here be a trio of bands that grabbed a young Gerald's ear and lured him into this 30+yr love affair with this music genre.
This one is dedicated to Dan Gehring [MMO], as we discussed the joys of Mustard Plug at a NAMeetup
