Nephew’s in town staying with us. He’s a photographer, roadie, etc. with a band called Mom Jeans and they’re going on tour tomorrow. He came down a couple days early. Had to take him back to the #Nocatee Preserve. Heat index was over 100°, and the flies were biting, so we didn’t stay long. He sleeps late so we didn’t get down there until late in the morning. Brought along the old Oly E-M5 with the 14-150 mounted. #Photography #Olympus #EM5 #Florida #wetlands

Visited one of the #Nocatee amenities yesterday, Settlers Pond. Very nice place. Saw a lot of ducks. Went back this morning with the #Olympus #EM1X and the 100-400mm zoom. Tried to get some ducks in flight. Not exactly my strong suit, but I think I can get some practice there. (Also need to get some practice on editing.) These are black bellied whistling ducks. They sound like squeaky toys when vocalizing. #Photography #Florida #birds

In otter news, this morning’s bird…
Another first for me here in #Nocatee. The swallow-tailed kite was a first recently. These otters are the first I believe I’ve seen, or at least photographed (barely), here. I’d seen otters fairly often at the condo, not so much here.

Toward the end of my walk this morning. Swallow-tailed kite. There were two of them. I first spotted one being harassed by mockingbird over the preserve. They were too far away for a decent shot. (Though I took many.) Then near very end, this one was right overhead. I should have dialed up the exposure compensation a lot more. #Florida #birds #photography #OMDS #OM1 #Nocatee
