And there definitely are a lot of arguments to be made about allowing quotations having positive impacts. For example you get informed when people are doing it which means you can see if someone is saying something negative and have an opportunity to do something. Where now people can still call you out for harassment, but you're less likely to be forewarned or be able to figure out where it came from. #nocp

I'm a huge fan of a reverse chronological timeline personally, but I can see where an algorithmic timeline would be a lot better for some people. But I think any algorithm needs to be user centric, focused on their well being, and completely controlled by them. The reality is algorithmic timelines are more than anything a user manipulation tool to social media companies. Any improvement in user experience only happens on most platforms as a tool in manipulation. And I'm not ok with that. #nocp

I'm listening to a podcast from February 2020 and it's interesting to hear this one comedian repeating talking points that would later be the heart of covid denial rhetoric: "Its just a little worse than the flu." "Masks don't really work that well." "Coronavirus is the flu with really good PR." And I don't think this particular comedian ended up being a covid denier once the pandemic really hit the US hard. #nocp

Oh yeah, Tusky also makes it weirdly hard to access your own profile so you can say easily reply to one of your own tweets. Maybe I'm missing the easy way to do that but I end up clicking through my own notifications to get there most of the time. #noCP

Also I get why there's no quote tweeting on Mastodon but there really needs to be a way to say "read this whole thread". I could just post a link but it feels rude given the no quotes policy. #noCP

My search for a client update: The official mastodon app has better rendering and looks much less clunky but Tusky seems more fully featured and lets you pin lists and customize some things which I really like. I wish I could combine the two. Neither of them lets you compose threads which I find really frustrating. #noCP
