@TomaszSusul Yeah I also saw pictures of that one! I'm still hoping to get lucky myself this year, but here is a beautiful display I saw two years ago.

Stunning capture of Noctilucent Clouds from the #ISS by #Astronaut Bob Hines. These are some of the highest known clouds in our atmosphere at over 80km height! They are lit by the sun long after sunset, giving them an eerie blue shine against the black sky.

The noctilucent clouds put on a quite a display last night over Stockholm.

Noctilucent clouds are the highest clouds in the Earth’s atmosphere, and they are becoming more visible and widespread due to climate change. These clouds form at altitudes of about 80 km (50 miles), where tiny ice crystals reflect sunlight after sunset or before sunrise. The increase in noctilucent clouds is linked to the cooling and moistening of the upper atmosphere, caused by rising greenhouse gases and declining ozone.

It's the time of the year when #noctilucentclouds (#lichtendenachtwolken) tend to appear over latitudes of 50 degrees plus on the northern hemisphere, but this year they hardly don't. They are quite unpredictable and of course you need a clear sky at the right moment. Till now there was just one nice display here, only visible in the western part of the Netherlands where they had the luck of a clear sky in the early morning of 30 June. The image here I took on 5 July 2022.

My own style of work seems unreplicable by what Bing is using, but nevertheless this vista I generated of noctilucent clouds in the dark night sky is nice. I wonder what they'd look like horizon-to-horizon as painted by the hands of a stylus-on-tablet artist...

@AzureDusk10 were they aurora or #NoctilucentClouds? I’ve not managed to spot either yet. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Noctilucent_cloud
A short #timelapse #video of the #NoctilucentClouds early this morning over #Belfast, including the obligatory cloud #photobomb… 🤦🏼♂️

4 years ago while on a bicycle ride in San Jose, California, I got a picture of a rare #NoctilucentClouds outbreak. These polar mesospheric clouds are usually only visible above 50° latitude about an hour after sunset or before sunrise. https://twitter.com/KO6YQ/status/1137941420071768064 #spaceweather

The other passengers on the Metro are wondering why the hell I am opening the doors at every station and then getting back on board the train. They would rather think I was mad than look out of the window! #noctilucentclouds over Ryen, Oslo.
Seems that Curiosity rover over in Gale, did not want to be outdone.
Waiting for more frames.
The final MastCam mosaic could be really special. 😀

This excellent display of notilucent clouds appeared over Portland, Oregon in June 2019. These clouds are the highest of any on Earth, forming 47-53 mi (76 -85 km) up.
Noctilucent clouds form when ice crystals coalesce around tiny particles of meteor dust, and they appear just after dusk. The clouds used to be seen only at high latitudes, but climate change has made them visible farther south.
They are an amazing sight to see from your front yard!
