What are the least terrible shoes, for the planet and the workers of the world? – which is available for "try before you buy" in Norway?

I'm guessing it's really hard to get away from shoes with plastic soles? Is the claims of Adidas for some of their shoes to be using recycled ocean-bound plastic real, does it help, or is it just greenwashing?

Are there any worker owned shoe companies out there?
