When I divorced, I was seriously depressed. For a manic depressive, a dangerous place to be. For me, filing to finalizing: 3 months. In Texas there is a movement to extend the period of time to divorce: 6 mos. Thom Hartmann sites the difference in states where no fault divorce is legal vs states where it is illegal. The religious right will not stop at abortion, or contraception, or oppressing the LGBTQ community.

Their goals include a return to the days when women were treated as chattel and forced to remain in abusive marriages. Some of the quotes in this article display an utter lack of empathy, much less care for freedom.

Right now, influential voices on the right are calling to roll back the clock by 50 year by ending #NoFaultDivorce. It's easy to dismiss them as crackpots, but if we've learned nothing else in recent years, it's that bad ideas will spread quickly from the fringe right to the so-called mainstream right.
