$10 from a clearance bin, the hype sticker promises that their indie-noise/electronic identity finds a melancholy kind of darkness here.
SOLD.

It’s really fun. There’s some definite Japandroids/Refused type vibes here, but there are serious hooks & melodies.
“Heat” is a killer tune, and the albums electronic flourishes are subtle and very complementary.
REALLY dig this.
I assume they are now defunct?

I got into Sonic Youth's early 'horror' stuff as a teen. It seemed like these guys took all of the right lessons regarding, for this album at least. One of my favorite tracks of the 90's. It ends spectacularly.

Brainiac - Vincent Come On Down (1996)

Indie rock from Dayton, Ohio.

Formed in January 1992, they disbanded after the sudden death of lead singer Tim Taylor in a car accident on May 23, 1997. They played Lollapalooza and opened for bands like Beck and The Jesus Lizard. Kim Deal produced their first EP.

The band was very interested in writing a "futuristic pop" album, although to my ears this track has a distinctive 90s “synthpunk” sound. I love the fat, crunchy, noisy guitars and Moog synthesizers. It’s loud and frenetic.
