When a college student 35 years ago, I was a Republican in Tennessee. I worked in Republican campaigns, and for Republican causes. A Republican operative told me why he got involved - because there were plenty of rich people with no power, but no people with power who weren't rich. At that moment, my perspective began to change. Cynicism began to take over.

It's the greed that will end us as a democratic society.
