An animation of this game. (In the end, dead groups are removed for scoring purposes.)

Thanks to tres14159 on Twitter for the idea of the animation, and to @henryseg for the suggestion to make the stones larger. This is not a regular tiling, so some stones touch, but in some cases the distances between intersections are larger.

A game of Go on a hyperbolic manifold, played in the HyperRogue discord server, ended like this.

Some of the new worldgen for 3d hyperbolic worlds, as they're based on horospheres normal heightmaps work, with the added effect that there is exponentially more space the higher up you go because of the geometry.

Currently working on Solv geometry, basically start with a euclidean plane & stretch the X axis by 2^height & Y axis by 2^(-height). So cross sections in the XZ/YZ planes look like binary trees of voxels expanding in opposite directions.

Randomly, here's a roundup of a few weird-perspective simulations and games I'm aware of. Add your own if you you feel like it. 1/x

WIP of a 3d hyperbolic world,
Concentric horospheres tiled with triangular tilings are used as height levels, the actual tiles(voxels?) used are technically triangular prisms that scale to double their size & connect to 4 other triangular faces at the top.
This kind of setup makes it feel more like a 2d euclidean ground with a "tree-shaped" vertical direction.

🤔 I think something might be wrong with my grid, it doesn't seem to fit properly on a flat screen?

I made a video showing some non-regular hyperbolic tessellations a bit before making a mastodon account:

(continuing) Hyperbolic Pythagoras tells us \[ \cosh c=\cosh a\cosh b \] (Spherical uses "cos".) I long-ago (re?-)discovered Hyp de Gua: \[ \cos\frac{D}2=\cos\frac{A}2\cos\frac{B}2\cos\frac{C}2-\sin\frac{A}2\sin\frac{B}2\sin\frac{C}2 \] (Sph uses "+".) Beyond that? I have no idea, even for 4-space. Hyp volumes are encoded in elaborate integrals, and a Pythagor-esque relation among them seems quite elusive (to me). So, I thought I'd post this as an in

A random ordering of tiles is chosen. For each tile in this order, color it with the first color from a fixed list which has not been yet assigned to its neighbor. Can you tell the order of colors?

How does this work on an infinite tessellation left as an exercise. 4 colors are enough by 4 Color Theorem; but AFAIK 4CT on infinite maps relies on Compactness Theorem, which tends to be not constructive (even for easier-proven versions like 6CT).

If they expand in the same 'z' direction, but with different rates instead, it looks more like a horosphere (compare the first visualization in this thread); this is why hexes in the visualization below are squished when we look at them orthogonally from far away.
