My 30 year old son yesterday called Joe incompetent after the debt deal and sandbag slip and I told him I couldn’t talk about this and told him I had to go. Later,

I wrote him an email and used #NonViolentCommunication to express my pain & disconnect & concern.

The email relieved some of my pain, after all I was honest and kind, clear and direct.

I haven’t heard from him, yet.

BTW, he’s a democrat. But (obv) centrist. That comment felt right wing. I’m heart broken.Want to see the email?

What happens to #gun culture if children are taught #NonViolentCommunication and #ConflictResolution as part curriculum at school? How could families be against this? (I know #ParentsRights groups 👹)

Whoa. It came up in conversation yesterday how much experience I have being a #college #student...

Counting by calendar years where I was enrolled at least half time (most of it was full-time) for half the year (most of it was the full academic year including summers)... I have *eleven* (11) *years* of college experience... and no degree yet!

But, if everything that's still up in the air lands right, I will have my #associates for transfer in #ComputerScience at the conclusion of this semester! (And, I think worst case scenario would be having it at the end of this summer semester.)

That's not even including the non-college #classes I have taken, like the #CreativeNonFiction writing class I took through the art museum in the last city I lived in, the #NonviolentCommunication course, guitar lessons through the library...

Can #learning be a #SpecialInterest in and of itself?

How to turn solutions into problems.

In western cultures, we see #problems, and often jump straight to #solutions. Sometimes this works, but sometimes it's a bad solution (eg, works me, but not for you, fails in edge cases).

If you recognise you have a solution, you can analyse it, to try to understand the problem and needs in more detail, maybe with others, and this can lead to much better alternative solutions.

We never arrive. Life is a #journey.
Nothing and no one is perfect on that journey.
Find ease in going toward #truth.
In your body: Self-care. Deep breath. Calm your ANS.
In your mind:Thoughts as “just
thoughts” not truths.
In your spirit: #connect to a divinity within and/or to the universe. W/e god means to you.
And connect to a loving other. But that starts with you.

Oh hello!

My name is Melvin (they/them), #AuDHD, & I'm happy to be in a space populated by other neurodivergent folks 😺 .

I've had a muuuch higher success rate in harmonious relationships with other ND folks (& queer folks, which is the uniting factor of the other server I'm on).

I doubted the validity of my "membership" to both these groups for a long time (imposter syndrome, anyone?), but having that self-knowledge in the last few years has really helped me get my life set up in a somewhat manageable way -- e.g. finding covid-cautious, very quiet & non-judgmental folks to live with (they're both queer and #AuDHD! It's *not* perfect but it's SAFE) and making a new irl friendship back in February with yet another queer, AuDHD person, which has been so great; we met on OkCupid where I occasionally have a profile for the sole purpose of finding new friends (I hate dating and consider myself #GrayAce, but I DO really wanna find meaningful friendships that might still be around 10 years from now 🤞) since it offers a heavy filtration system and the opportunity to discuss covid precautions BEFORE being physically near one another.
