Rainbow Bee-eater. Gorgeous little birds! 😊❤️ Been craning my neck around in the bushland like a madman the past few weeks trying to spot them and got lucky yesterday. They like to come out close to sunset time, it seems.

My favourite flower, the one I have tattooed on my thigh, is that of the Boolkala (Firewood Banksia) tree. It is currently in bloom in Perth. I saw these ones at the local bushland reserve.

Belmont probably has an existing Nyoongar name but if not, I think it should be Boolkalap "The Place of the Banksias"! 😃

It was a blazing hot day today. I checked out Mettam's Pool near Trigg with family. I remember coming to this place many years ago to grab abalone with family. It's a gorgeous relatively obscure spot. I definitely recommend it. I would however suggest newcomers to just hang out in the pool. The reefs and waves elsewhere can be a bit hectic.

I've been told that this a Burton's Legless Lizard, not a snake.

You can tell by its pointy face. Still startled me when I encountered it in the local bushland.

MOYIRAN: Old man/Grandfather

One of the biggest regrets in my life was not getting to know my MOYIRAN, A Gong as I called him in Teochew, a lot more while he was still alive. Now all I have left are his photos, his books and his writings. I guess that will have to be enough.
