Relatively close encounter with a frill-necked lizard (Chlamydosaurus kingii) in Noosa National Park, Queensland.
When it saw that we'd seen it, it didn't scoot up the tree, but any approach made it move around the tree out of sight, so this is as close as we got.
I'd estimate it's probably about full size, or around a meter long, nose to tail tip, although that's a *long* tail. The frill is down (the frill is gone?), and we weren't about to deliberately alarm it for a display.
