Council members demand answers after shooting victim Asia Davis's calls for NOPD help went unheeded https://www.nola.com/news/crime_police/council-criticizes-nopd-response-times-on-domestic-violence/article_b08f69f4-fb1c-11ed-a4d2-43b52e575ace.html #NOLA is broken. The #NOPD is a joke. The 911 system is broken. The non-emergency “311” system is terrible. The mayor Can’trell is a loser. We are doomed.
Monitor slams NOPD over internal affairs, probe of Cantrell security guard https://www.nola.com/news/courts/monitor-raps-nopd-on-internal-affairs-cantrell-detail-probe/article_0f5593de-e9e6-11ed-81f9-b7c20f21c658.html #ACAB #NOPD is still a disaster. And we’re still talking about Can’trell’s boyfriend Vappie. #NOLA remains “interesting.”
#VeriteNewsNola has another update on the status of #RoyalStreet in #NewOrleans.
#Louisiana’s Lt. Gov. Billy Nungesser has agreed to have his office, which includes the State Department of Tourism, ensure the pedestrian mall hours are enforced. He will be temporarily taking over for #NOPD, which has done a terrible job of managing the barricades (though they have happily ticketed illegally parked vehicles). Let’s see if his office can do a better job.

The #RoyalStreet saga continues:
After #NOPD said they did not have the man power to enforce the pedestrian mall on Royal Street by setting temporary barricades daily, Department of Public Works employees were seen ticketing people for parking in an area designated as a pedestrian mall.
Seems like the city would prefer to have it both ways. And why not? It’s free revenue from confused drivers (to the tune of nearly $60k in the last year).

When #NOPD introduced live video surveillance in 2017, the city claimed it was meant to help them solve crimes that had already occurred. More and more, these live feeds are used to justify arrests before a crime has occurred or been reported. As one might imagine, this includes the stopping and arresting of individuals who have done nothing wrong.

#NewOrleans is in danger of losing a huge piece of it’s musical identity. For 50 years, #RoyalStreet in the #FrenchQuarter has been closed to vehicular traffic during the day to allow #musicians a safe place for #busking.
After temporarily suspending the closure of the street during COVID, the #NOPD has refused to do it’s job by barricading the streets during the day. This has put musicians in danger as cars come rolling down Royal Street at times when it us supposed to be closed.

#NOPD has deployed anti-looting teams across the city in order to protect our citizens' property as we continue the recovery process. Looting will NOT be tolerated and encourage everyone to be good neighbors and say something when you see something.
