When I think of "Nordic horror story" I think of that ancient Viking tale, told to scare the children by the fire in a dark winter's night, where a man left his apartment at exactly the same time as his neighbour and had to say hello to him.

I watched & highly recommend the extraordinary #Katla on @Netflix.
[⚠️Caveat/TW: The show deals with grief—specifically the aftermath of maternal depression & suicide—& chronic illness & disability.]

The aesthetic of #NordicHorror & #NordicSciFic is far more foreign than the language. (Where Nordic peoples interact in these shows, English seems to be their common language). Once you develop a taste for it, it gets in your head.

#NordicNoir is now one of my favourite genres.
