Slow progress, but very happy with these first unarmoured Normans I did. They were fun to paint and helped me figure out how to make a bunch of colours not look like a circus!
Also worth noting that I'm too cheap to buy transfers, so the shields are hand painted.
Had my first go with my home made static grass applicator on these too. Really made the grass look deep and lush I think!

This is actually my oldest/strongest confirmed genetic root, older than "family lore of a Swedish 100 year war soldier". So if you have Somerville in your family at any point (mine comes via my maternal great-grandmother) then we're probably cousins ✌️

A hoard of silver coins unearthed in southwest England contained more than 1,300 coins featuring the portrait of the Norman king William the Conqueror, all of which were issued after his #Christmas Day coronation in 1066.

Before they arrived we had the kingdoms of #Northumbria, #Mercia, East Anglia, #Wessex & #cornwall. Before that we had other divisions (eg #Strathclyde came right down into what later became Lancs). I'm just curious.
