Back to #NorseyWoods for #TodaysWalk. We had one dog, and we're picking blackberries, os looking at the 'hedgerows' a bit more than usual. You can just about make out the huge web over the brambles. It was difficult to picture, and more impressive in real life.
Having not been in #NorseyWoods for a few days, I was surprised to see this carpet of leaves on the bridge over the WWI trenches. I assume it was caused by the recent high winds, a shame to see such damage. #TodaysWalk
Mid-summer is one of the least interesting times in #NorseyWoods. So I was looking for something to snap on #TodaysWalk. There are two buddleias along this path, they are both beautiful, but sadly today, no butterflies.
These are not quite ready yet, and quite small. Some have already shrivelled and dried out. It's been very dry for the entire summer. #TodaysWalk #NorseyWoods
Light at the end of the tunnel. The tree branches are weighted down with rain, the air is humid, almost misty, but it is not too warm. The camera is having trouble finding a point to focus on. #TodaysWalk #NorseyWoods
Another plant (green burdock?) that likes the path edges. These are just now starting to grow tall, and probably flower. You can see from the dusty leaves near the base that it's been there a while. #NorseyWoods #TodaysWalk
The path divides, so you can go either side of the clumps of sedge. These plants are at their height in #NorseyWoods now and enjoy the path edges. I have to confess to not liking them, but rather them than nettles (also found on path edges). #TodaysWalk
While waiting for my phone to restart to take a picture of these foxgloves, in a short period of silence, there was a cuckoo calling in the distance. #NorseyWoods #TodaysWalk
Patches of grass, often under copied trees, brings some green to the faded brown of dead leaves on the woodland floor. #NorseyWoods #TodaysWalk
Root Falls in #NorseyWoods is now just a trickle. On my route there is no serious mud, just uneven damp patches of earth. #TodaysWalk
The cow parsley has been in bloom for a while now. It's lovely in the wood, but not in my garden. #TodaysWalk #NorseyWoods #NorseyMeadow

Wild(?) raspberries in #NorseyWoods on #TodaysWalk. The promise of the summer is showing in late spring.
The pond in #NorseyWoods, which we do not usually pass, is looking a bit green and rather too full of branches. #TodaysWalk
Holly blooms are small and easily missed on most bushes, but these are quite visible. They've been around a while now, and I'm not sure how long they last. #TodaysWalk #NorseyWoods
Just a few days ago, all along the edge of the path it was bright blue. The blooming bluebells are over, the season has moved on. Producing seed so that next year is better than this one is now the order of the day. I'm looking forward to next spring now. #TodaysWalk #NorseyWoods
No brambles, no nettles, no holly bushes, just open woodland with broadleaf trees. A lovely space in the woodland. #NorseyWoods #TodaysWalk
The older bluebells are now fading and the seed pods developing. The glorious blue carpet will be faded to just a memory in a week or two. #NorseyWoods #TodaysWalk
No coat on #TodaysWalk. Here is one white bluebell in the midst of a lot of blue ones. There is at lease one clump of white ones elsewhere in the wood, and lots in my garden. I thought the loss of colour was soil related, but this one suggests something else, a different strain perhaps? #NorseyWoods
There are other plants that bring colour to #Norseywoods. This morning I saw red campion, fake nettles, and garlic mustard. All of which occur naturally in my garden (and have to be removed). #TodaysWalk
On #TodaysWalk in #Norseywoods, apart from the mud, I noticed these low 'fences'. It seems quite a lot of work has been done to protect the new growth on the recently coppiced trees from human activity. They wouldn't stop anything else. In a few places they are being covered by bramble. Will this eventually make good habitat?
