Ten years ago, I was burned out after one news editing job in D.C. and while looking for a new newsroom job, managed to get a sweet 6-week cat-sitting gig in Chiang Mai, Thailand where I also went to cooking school.
Among the dishes I made a decade ago, via my photo archives: Pork with flat noodles, chilli peppers, cauliflower and sauce thickened with tapioca; and Chiangmaiese style snakehead fish curry.
