@wa7iut
For reference for those not old enough, in Seattle area, I (& roommate) paid $325/mo for a 2bd/1bth in the early 80's and minimum wage was around $3.60 or something an hour.

@godzero @ukuku @pluralistic
@RainCityBunnies Me too.
It's a tradeoff. My parents bought their first fridge used, in the late 60s. It was 15-20 years old at the time. Two family moves later, it went down to the basement as the "2nd fridge". They finally got rid of it, still working, in the late 90s.
But in 1950, it probably cost 2-3 months of the average workers' wage. It's a small fraction of that now.
I think there was a sweet spot for price/durability, probably in the 80s.
@MariaHill @Sunspot 1965 is the first year of Not Being A Boomer and that pleases me. Especially when my teen aged kids call me a Boomer which I am not!

@abraxas3d @k2za @vk6flab I think it's partly related to the uncomfortable-for-some generational change that's dragging on. Boomers were The Center Of The Universe for *so long* that they are having trouble understanding that they need to move along now. See, for example, making fun of kids that don't know what a dial phone is.

@TheMobiusHammock hmmm. What about those of us who are Generation Jones? #NotaBoomer https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Generation_Jones
Super proud 🥹. I figured out how to migrate from my other account (@indymom@mastodon.social) all by myself! #notaboomer
