Peeps... Mastodon IS hard to use for certain peer groups like journalists for example. That's perfectly normal because they do not engage with social media like.. ah dunno.. you and me? They want to have a search. They require trends. And analytics. You know.. that thing that determines "reach" or "influence". Numbers that go into a chart to justify their invested time.
It's a different perspective. Keep that in mind. Stop trolling em 😉
Yesyes #notAllJournalists, get yourself a juice box.
@ParanoidFactoid That's actually a good point, #NotAllJournalists, that's the power of open source, you can make it what you want, I'm more speaking about corporate interests trying to get involved where they don't belong and people trying to change established instances to become just like Twitter. This isn't Twitter, but I support anyone trying to speak truth to power.
@clipperchip @stavvers And my point is that you can't call yourself a journalist and attempt to evade questions about the ethical failings of many in that trade by saying #notalljournalists - you have to own the reality of the trade, and explain what you will do to make it better instead of demanding a get out of jail free card.
@clipperchip @stavvers feeling really cautious about inserting myself into this (because the OP can speak for themself) but #notalljournalists is not a good look - the trade (it's not a profession) needs to own the misdemeanours of the many who do the stuff being described here, and commit to eradicating it, or admit that it's beyond redemption...
Thank you #NotAllMen and #NotAllWhitePeople for bringing us #NotAllJournalists
