What do ya’ll think of cheat sheets for RPGs?

Are they useful to Players and GMs?

On one end of the spectrum there are home made pdfs and scratch papers full of notes. The other there are productive things (DM/GM screens). And in the middle you get the excellent stuff produced by @hexcrawl.

Day Nine: Favorite DICE

Chessex Speckled Mercury Polyhedral (and d10s). I have had these forever. I have used them for so many games. The D10s are great for both #VampireTheMasquerade and #LegendOfTheFiveRings Scorpion Clan. I have several other dice sets, but this one is my go-to.

Runner-ups include my #Genesys dice (love that system) and a set of transparent green D6s (which roll a frightening large number of 6s).

I find it really useful to follow hashtags, so they just appear in my feed, instead of having to look in a different part of the UI.

Prep’ing for a session of Scum and Villainy tonight. I call the campaign Space Opera! and it's equal parts Space Balls and Alien.

One thing I try to do is write recaps and read them to the group in the tone of an old 50s matinee Serial Narrator. Usually goes well, but I often stumble in the middle of reading it a couple of times.

I really need to work on writing stuff that is more easily read aloud.

F the dragon game but I might just take part in an event and I want to be able to run a game using its sheet "to allow players to move to other tables" but not using the system.

Rolls: 2d20 under stat. Two hits, big yes; one hit, not exactly; no hits, well shoot... All rolls player facing, all damage from npcs averaged, all damage from players equal to level times hit die.

I'm leaning hard into my post-D&D era. #NotDnD

Let's see, there's the original game I just wrote. The original game I'm writing now. The original game I'm working on when I'm procrastinating the other one. And the original game I intend to write soon.

All of the have to be crowdfunded at some point, which has its own set of challenges in 2023.

I think D&D will always be a part of my work, but probably not anything like it used to be.

It is a little disheartening, as I got my copies of Fantasy Age 2e and Dragonbane in the mail in the last week. I was eager to try those out. I really want to run a long-term #FantasyAGE game. I may need to look for players for that.

Gawd, I really don't want to look for a new gaming group in #LNK. Trying to find a group that will actually take a new player (even a GM) is like pulling team. The local gaming scene feels so insular.

I will give them credit. I did introduce them to #Genesys via Android: Shadow of the Beanstalk and #Alien RPG. They enjoyed them. But the Genesys funky dice are hard for them to grok (I get it). And they love fantasy first.
