Funny thing: only yesterday while listening to the fan in my laptop spin up on the ad-loaded site electrek.com (ironic!) I wondered to myself, "what's the kWh hit of all this advertising frenzy, at scale?"

Well, one day later up pops an answer.

Sadly because of Yet Another Business Plan this article is but some hints are in the abstract, for those who can take the work on faith alone.

It's a lot of juice.

I guess an implication of this might be that increasing melt and hence subglacial disposal will contribute to increased seasonal acceleration?

More tragic

'Multiple Equilibria in a Coupled Climate–Carbon Model'

"Four stable climate states are possible, from the Snowball Earth, in which ice covers the whole planet, to the Warm state, an ice-free world. The carbon cycle drives the global climate change at an extremely slower pace after sea ice retreats. Sea ice and water vapor, on the other hand, constitute the major contributing factors that accelerate faster climate change."

Don't rage against the machine-- know it.

Climate change deniers and dismissives don't comprise the largest machine in our political space. Even so, it's effective machinery.

Knowing the machine is to know how to disable it. People seeking to help with disassembly need to be fully informed of the machine's inner workings.

Therefore, a shame that this paper is

Sadly this is but perhaps that will change.

'Speedup affects the entire drainage of the Amundsen Sea Embayment sector; the entire west coast of the Antarctic Peninsula down to GeorgeVI Ice Shelf; the east coast down to Larsen C Ice Shelf...

(a -lot- of dots)...

We attribute the observed glacier changes to increased melting by warmer ocean waters.'
