Another classic Nottingham Post headline (spoiler, the Castle hasn't collapsed) but it is a symptom that councils trying to offload responsibilities to independent trusts is a risky business. Sad for all of those affected by this; project decisions will have been taken with the best of intentions, and the ground has shifted (metaphorically) as a result of Covid. And it's easy to be wise after the event.

Sad to hear of Nottingham Castle Trust's financial problems. Only re-visited once since the re-opening, but it was good to see the collections of Nottingham alabaster carved Mediaeval sculpture and the Flawford statues again...

The big news in #EastMidlands #heritage today is that #NottinghamCastle will close its doors just 18 months after relaunching. The Trust responsible will liquidate.

There’s a lot to this story: Allegations of bullying and a race hate incident on site, coupled with high profile firings and resignations. The local community expressed concern over ticket prices and value for money from the start.
