I really hope this is me overthinking/overreacting, but it seems as of lately that users that have the :verified: emoji next to their names here on Mastodon feel that their opinion often overrides those opinions of others who don't have the same emoji in their names here.
I've experienced this in a couple of conversations myself, but have seen it in several others that I'm not involved in. (cont...)

I'm almost to the point where I will start unfollowing people here on Mastodon who have the :verified: emoji in their usernames.
You're not #Verified in that way on Mastodon, so don't pretend like you are.
You're also sending a very wrong message to newer users who don't understand the badge doesn't mean anything here.
I get it was mostly done for a joke or a troll against the other site, but come on folks, we've been here for weeks now. The joke isn't funny any longer!
