@humanrightswatch continues to monitor the deteriorating human rights landscape in #BurkinaFaso. In a horrifying escalation of the security situation, sources report that at least 28 civilians were killed extrajudicially in sections N°4 and N°6 of #Nouna the night of December 30-31, 2022.

A #civil #society group blamed the killings on armed #civilians claiming to be members of a government-backed volunteer force fighting #jihadists.

The #government did not comment on the claim, but said it was investigating.
