(Fantastical near future fiction WIP) Diary of Beulah Edwards, May 17, 2028, Pensacola Lighthouse: "The problem is not the current situation and condition, but the ghosts of Confederate soldiers who crowd the narrow catwalk around the storm panes, begging me to turn off the light. They seem convinced the Union soldiers of 1862 are now across the bay at Fort Pickens and that the lighthouse will suffer artillery fire."

I have to navigate mental illness in the face of so much in our news and social media in the US. After this weekend of trying to catch up, I began to feel overwhelmed. I've decided to refocus on my writing, reading, and editing. I've decided to resurrect a writing project I started a couple of years ago, a fantastical novel-in-flash about a southern secession in the US. It is a way to both deal with current dark realities, but in a way I can handle.
