Novovax claimed 90% #efficacy against symptomatic #COVID, and 100% efficacy against hospitalization. But…the study period was 95 days pre-delta, which is before the antibodies start waning anyway. 😬 (And Drs. Griffin and Racaniello point out that the protein that #Novovax is based on, is the original strain.) 7/

Randomized placebo #Novovax trial in the UK - 100% protection against severe disease, 76% against asymptomatic #COVID infection. Although it’s not clear if this study occurred during omicron. Regardless, the US bought a ton of Novovax even though we haven’t come close to using the doses that are going to expire end of Feb. 😬

For those of us who have had a nasty reaction to the mRNA booster, I highly recommend the #Novovax booster. It is not as protective as the mRNA booster but it is a much safer shot. I react to everything and my reaction to Novovax was a nothingburger. I just got a little dizzy if I pushed myself too hard for three days afterward. So get your shot on a Friday, take a long weekend, and you’ll be fine.
