I enjoy making up spells that play with the #NoxEngine systems
In NE, you have a pool of Action Points and some spells mess around with that, either giving you bonus actions or forcing you to use your actions
Fights! take place in zones or fields within the battlefield, and some spells interact with that, like a firebomb that affects everyone in the same zone
I love how things are coming together ππ§ββοΈ

The caster can use part of their action to unleash the paradox dice and roll them for a Paradox Effect.
Why use action? Because it means the player must choose between accumulating more paradox or be less effective in the round to suffer a lesser effect.
I kinda like this system because it means a game could see some extended spell slinging action πππ§ββοΈ

As much as I'd like the Nox Engine to include a modular magic system, I just don't think I can manage it without making it too complicated, so I think I'll have to scrap and start over
Or specifically, set the previous aside in case I want to use it later π
Anyway, I think I will base the new magic system on Control and give it a sort of health-like system

Part of how character creation works (currently) in the #NoxEngine is that you choose two Destinies, which affect your Edge dice, which Skills are your favoured, and what Talents you can learn. This creates YOUR destiny, which you can name and stuff
You could, for example, put together 2 Destinies, Scoundrel and Speaker, and make Spy your personal destiny
This is all well and good, but it isn't very inspiring stuff when making your character, is it?

Wrote 20k words in 2 weeks and then took a break for 2 weeks (vacation and family stuff got in the way) BUT I'm going to write in a couple of fixes I thought of during my vacation
First, instead of "rating" for Edges and Skills, I'm going to call them "dice." It's what they are and what they add to your roll, so it makes the most sense (don't know why I didn't think of it 20k words ago π€·ββοΈ)

This is a dice pool system where you count Strikes on the rolled dice. Number of Strikes over a difficulty (Mark) count as Hits. More Hits = greater success
Social mechanics where you roll against a difficulty set by the target's Conviction. For every Hit, you gain Influence over that target, which you'll use to "buy" requests and favours
Different requests can cost different amount of Influence, and NPCs can have a line they won't ever cross

I have an idea for an alternative rule for explosives in #Scion2e that I'm going to write about in my next blog (or one after that) π€
I use a variation of it in #ExpeditionersRPG actually and it'll probably be in #NoxEngine also, because I think it's a genius idea, even if it's not mine originally
This idea involves explosives being treated as their own antagonists, with their own initiative, etc.
I think it could work well with the Storypath system, such as in Scion
