More #NitroRallycross kicking off from Calgary. I’ve enjoy led the snow and ice racing so far. #NRX #NitroRX #Motorsport

One of my not-so-present interests so far on Mastodon is #AutoRacing. The series I follow are nearly all in their off-season.
However, I'm currently making plans to try to attend the IMSA weekend at Watkins Glen this year and regularly follow #Formula1, #IMSA, #GTWorldChallenge, #IndyCar, #NRX (#NitroRallycross), and #FormulaDrift.
Happy to make connections ahead of the upcoming seasons!
Here's a shot of a #MercedesAMG #GT3 Evo from last year's GT World Challenge weekend at Watkins Glen.

I haven't read enough from Yarvin or #NRx to make this case, but one thread I'm interested in pulling is where their argument for authoritarianism comes from. Dewey says authoritarianism is always rooted in a commitment to some prior principle--divine right, racism, blood and soil.
What prior principle is NRx's authoritarianism rooted in? I can't tell yet, but one of their buzzwords seems to be *flourishing.* This begs the questions "...whose?" and "... as defined by whom?"
I think this is part of what is going on with Curtis Yarvin, J. D. Vance, Blake Masters, Peter Thiel, and the Dark Enlightenment crowd. They believe, as Lippman did 100 years ago, that our democratic maps of the territory aren't working anymore. And they echo Lippman's critique about the hollowing out of local communities. So far, so fair. This leads to a choice: do we choose to work on #Democracy with Dewey? Or do we choose the will to power (think #Nietzsche), with Yarvin and the #NRx?
I'm hearing so many attacks on #democracy and so many calls from people I would respect otherwise to have “less democracy”… All those (#ThaddeusRussell, #GarettJones, #MenciusMoldbug…) seem to be confusing “smaller State” with “less democracy”.
When we #ClassicLiberals criticise the tyranny of the majority, what we are saying is that no State or institutional power should intrude so deeply into personal matters — not that we would prefer those intrusions to be orchestrated by dictators, oligarchs or technocrats instead of democratic institutions (imperfect and fallible as they may be)! We want less #coercion overall (ie, less #State) — not to move the extant coercive power from democracy to #autarchy.
Please reflect about that distinction if you find yourself dissatisfied with the status quo and flirting with the ideas of #NRx, #DarkEnlightenment, autarchy, #monarchy, etc.

I really can't stand the lack of intellectual rigour in all those hints and captious questions about alleged #ElectionFraud in the #US…
Latest example: in this #podcast, #CurtisYarvin argues that there are “means, motive, and opportunity” to suspect crime. But anyone can find as many red flags as they want — *evidence* (or in this case, the lack thereof) and presumption of innocence is what counts. He also wonders why there were #election observers at all, if the process is supposed to be so clean and fair (by the same logic, air travel must be riddled with safety issues and we should assume it's much more dangerous than people think, since there are so many checks and protocols and inspectors).
And this is the messiah of the #NRx…?
