It is sort of fitting as we are from a brewery town, and going to a brewery town.

Also I seem to have been persuaded to take my concert pitch #NorthumbrianSmallpipes with me though I doubt there will be much opportunity to play the #NSP while we are there.

The good news is I’ve picked up my NSP again. The bad news is that the B music of “Because he was a Bonny lad” keeps coming out as the B music of “Buttered Peas”.

Yesterday went well, if somewhat melting at points such as on the sun-blasted market square (where we cut the set short in the afternoon). What will I do today? I know, go to a broiler of a village hall to play some music at CamFrench! Hope that my NSP behave in the warm as I find the D minor tunes a complete pain on the box…

A couple of years ago, when the #Queen movie was popular, I thought that #NinjaSexParty should have done a cover of "Bohemian Rhapsody". From what I've heard, they didn't want to do it out of respect for Queen. I think they could have done the song justice. Danny could have sung the high notes of the song. Instead of a solo by a rockstar astrophysicist name Brian, it could have been done by a rockstar *theoretical* physicist name Brian. #Covers #Music #NSP

Then on Monday all being well I’ll actually meet my #NSP teacher face to face for the first time (after a mere three years of lessons!)

Northumbrian music includes quite a few tunes that just don’t want to let you stop. Particularly 3/2 hornpipes. I think I first ran into this with Love & Whisky/Bob & Joan/Cam-ye-o’er-fare-France/ whatever you want to call it. Today it was Rusty Gully. There’s just no way out.

And it is seriously awesome.
