This morning the lake was pearlescent.
Yesterday's heavy rain replaced by a flash frost. Its like the lake is surfaced with a pile of broken prisms.

We have an Azaleometer in our garden. Its a device for telling the temperature and it displays the temperature by the shape of its leaves.
On the left is the Azaleometer when it is -24C whilst on the right is the Azaleometer when it is OC.

The pressure systems here, for 3:00 AM AST Sat Dec 24, are something else. Out here in #Halifax we'll feel it mostly as wind (gusts to 100 km/h (54 kt)) and rain, but Southern Ontario is going to get a walloping of snow.
The other interesting part out east is that it's pulling tropical air from far south of us, bringing the *overnight* temperature up to 12ºC (53ºF) in the time of year where normal overnight temperatures are below 0ºC (32ºF).
