A project that I’ve been lucky enough to work on is OpenMC, an #OpenSource Monte Carlo code for #NuclearEngineering. It represents a huge paradigm shift for traditional #Nuclear design and analysis codes, in that it is
- free and open source
- not export controlled
- built using modern #SoftwareDevelopment practices

Scientists in China are now building on the same basic MSR technology developed at ORNL. The Chinese gov’t had a small, short-lived knowledge exchange program with ORNL. But most of the…intellectual property…is in the public domain.
