Asynchronous namespace access (ANA) or similar features of other protocols could be used to redirect clients to the best head node (or even best #NUMA node) for the dataset they are accessing.

This would be particularly true if the #ZFS consumer and the kernel could cooperate to schedule the consumer and the dataset's kthread into the same memory lgroup.
