Here are my main current reads. I’m finishing one #novel, Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin, and shortly starting Emily Wilde’s Encyclopaedia of Faeries. Also reading the #manga The Count of Monte Cristo. I’m reading the large print #Tolkien book The Fall of #Numenor, and Obverse Books Black Archive book about the recentish Flux series of #DoctorWho stories. And finally I’m still reading and enjoying John Green’s The Anthropocene Reviewed. #books #reading #fiction #NonFiction

I finished the Fall of Númenor. It was good. I mostly wish there was more. A must read if you want to know more about the second age of Middle-Earth.

I really wish Rings of Power had license to use this material.

I picked up The Fall of Númenor. On the one hand, it doesn’t really have any new material. But it collects nearly all the writing about Tolkien’s Second Age into a chronological order, interspersed with beautiful illustrations by Alan Lee.

So it probably isn’t for everyone, but I’ve been looking forward to it.

Halfway through Rings of Power, which we are both enjoying. But it’s fair to say the last two episodes have made me want to see a series solely telling the story of Numenor. And I’m not a huge fan of the often dark and gloomy scenes in the Southlands. Interesting storytelling, but so dark and gloomy I am peering at the telly, struggling to see the details. There is some very good acting in this though, which I definitely appreciate.

I mean....the Fall of #Numenor is a pretty straight ripoff of Atlantis, but still. It's a beautifully woven tale.

I didn't know that the first King of Numerator was Elrond Half-Elf's brother who chose a mortal life.
