Also I downloaded the demo for Plasticity today. Might have been a mistake as my desk is not at the new house yet & this is on Mac so mouse + kb required.
It looks amazing for hard surface modelling though. Very easy to loft shapes, join them, draw curves, chamfer/bevel, and Boolean cleanly.
Itβs all NURBS afaik, but is a little like box modelling.
Full software is $99 for indie or $299 for studio licenses too. No subscription. ππ»

Really I'm ashamed, because I don't understand how I could have missed this novelty, and to think that I constantly follow this add-on, it's still all very little more than a basic thing but it exports the subdivision surfaces in Nurbs patches, i.e. this component exports the #NURBS of #Blender in #IGES, not the subdivision surfaces and is also present in the Blender development portal. #b3d #blender3d https://github.com/UF-CISE-Surflab/blender-polyhedral-splines

People are obsessed with G3 and there are those who also talk about G4, but in reality G1 and G2 are already excellent solutions for #surfaces #continuity, so it is practically useless to go beyond G2, even for #cars exterior Class A surfaces , the top of the category. Getting a patch with G3 continuity on all sides often results in weird bulged surfaces that are too dense with control points #CAD #nurbs

I see some sort of smooth bulges on the right and central vertical blue edges - is it OK for G1?

Also on top & bottom horizontal blue edges it looks more like something in between G0 and G1: it is not sharp edge, but it looks like pointed bulge.
As for #SolveSpace, it produces #Nurbs with similar pointed bulge on fillets tangent edges.

Isn't a very smoothed curvature, but no matter because the relevant thing is that I've finally reached the G1 continuity in this multi patches surface, next step G2 continuity #plasticity #CAD #Nurbs.
With simple surfaces, the result obtained by converting the #SubD into #nurbs is excellent, without a flaw, here I tried to make a comparison with the CADs, creating the same hull from the lines extracted from the #Blender model with #Moi3D.β©β©Using Blender saves you from hours of effort. #FreeCAD #Plasticity
