I've take a job as a hospice nurse, doing home visits to people who are dying, helping them pass with whatever dignity and comfort is possible in their own homes. It pays less, but I think it will be rewarding in other ways.

I quit my job as a hospital nurse. Too much stress and anxiety: crushing chest pain in the mornings before work, needing to self-medicate. We're unable to properly care for patients for a long time now. Chronically short-staffed, short on equipment and supplies. It's heartbreaking. Upper managment has made very clear that nursing is an unnecessary expense rather than an assett to the the hospital.

I got into a verbal altercation with the head of housekeeping today. Housekeepers kept leaving COVID doors wide open, even after being told not to. Boss said, "well they're new and they don't speak English." Tell that to my pts who are now swabbing positive...

Well who would have expected that this chick would be selected to do a poster presentation at a conference!? I know most people would groan about this but, I don't know how I feel about it 10 hrs later. Initially I was elated & that lasted a couple of hours. Then, uncertainty & self-doubt, set in. Yesterday at work, an older lady patient asked me if I was going to 'go on to be a doctor?'. When I said 'No', she responded, 'yeah being a doctor is too hard and takes too much dedication.'
