The game plan is clear:
attack the public services via defunding & stressing the workforce;

use #austerity to claim money is tight, to reduce real wages;

claim: 'we'd like to run better public services, but we just can't get the staff'!

By 2027, nearly a fifth of registered nurses will hang up their scrubs for good, according to the National Council of State Boards of Nursing....For the ones that are working, Moffatt said some are now looking for nursing jobs outside a hospital setting."

The backstory here: the state government in Arkansas is now totally controlled by Republicans. You don't get a top position at UAMS, e.g., chancellor, unless you've shown Republican leaders that you're happy to bow to their leadership and work with them. Only Republican-leaning top administrators need apply.

And those top administrators rake in huge, huge salaries and benefits, as low-level workers are sued for $100 debts.

As CNN reports, Arkansas' flagship university med school hospital UAMS has been on an orgy of filing lawsuits — numbers rose from 35 lawsuits in 2016 to more than 3,000 in 2021 — to recover payments owed for medical services, some as little as $100. Those sued include UAMS employees who worked during the Covid pandemic and were then called "heroes" by UAMS.

The #EmergencyDepartment waiting room is a critical environment.
It has well-known dynamics which, if not controlled and managed, can lead to verbal and physical violence towards #nurses #doctors and other #healthcare workers.

Yesterday I taught in two #BLSD courses for #nursing students at their final year before graduating.

They cared about the topic, they asked pertinent questions, they were curious and demonstraded good knowledge and nearly perfect techniques.

Sadly I don't always see this positive attitude during the recertification courses for my fellow #nurses, #doctors and other #healtcare operators.

Eveyone should take example from this new generation of professionals. May their enthusiasm never fade!
