I need people to be proud of me. Sort of.
I had a 90-something old woman whining at me in my craft group today about how she couldn’t be doing with the #nursingstrikes how nursing ‘used to be a vocation’ (like wanting to eat was terribly rude of them) and we don’t have any money as a country.
And I stayed calm, I didn’t roll my eyes, I managed to get my point about unsafe patient care accross at least despite her talking over me (and she conceded that much) & I didn’t shake her by the neck.
If they EVER bring in having to pay for doctors appointments or A&E visits i would leave the #Nursing profession. I'm proud to be a #Nurse and proud to work for #OurNHS.
OUR NHS!! Not for Tories to line their own and their pals pockets. It belongs to us the people and we won't let them tear it apart

With a simple intervention these #nursingstrikes can be stopped. .@stevebarclay@twitter.com just agree to talk about money. No is no longer an option.

Thinking of British #NHS #nurses friends on #strike today. Sad that it came to this. Also angry at #RCN for the shambles of a voting process which left nurses without ballot papers. A lot more would be on strike today if RCN was more concerned with being a competent trade union, and less about selling books and pretending to be a professional regulator. Never mind that their pay demand even if met still represents a real-terms pay cut since 2010.

This is important, when people ask me about the patient safety implications of #nursingstrikes its important to remember people are not getting the #nursing care they need NOW
This is why there must be meaningful discussion https://twitter.com/nursegow/status/1602752807735787520

The amount of people who are ignorant that #NursingStrikes are not just about pay but about levels of safety and quality of care for patients is mind blowing. It was the same with the tube-passenger safety was at risk. And lo people have been disadvantaged and put at risk . Same with the trains. Something had to give and it cannot be working people. #SupportStrikes.

@Blackgirlinmaine As a nurse trained and registered in Britain (though living and also registered in New Zealand) I appreciate this sentiment. Never cross a picket line. #NHS #NursingStrikes
Comments on social media about #NHS #nursingstrikes really have all become reams of selfish Boomers telling on themselves.
Fed up with negativity about #nursingstrikes in the #NHS. I did my bit through #COVID19. A year of working 6 day weeks, 60+ hours per week. Missing my children. Never seeing friends. Horrendous working conditions, crap PPE, a 25% real terms pay CUT, and some folks stood on their doorsteps and clapped on Thursday nights. I finally broke and left for New Zealand in May. I walked into an instant 50% increase in take-home pay, great conditions, a reasonable caseload. #nhsnurses should strike.
