I think I've finally figured out what annoys me about #NuTrek - it feels unbelievably safe!

The effects are fantastic and all, but I don't think one of these episodes has challenged any part of my worldview at all, and that seems kinda sad. I can see why, they're spending a boatload of cash on so few episodes that they can't afford to alienate anyone.

#AllStarTrek See, if this was #NuTrek (or #StarTrekEnterprise S4), they'd drag this story out over 3 episodes, but because this is 60's #StarTrekTOS we can be assured that this McCoy plot will end by this episode's finale, along with a silly joke and a smile.👍

#NuTrek kinda has it's work cut out of it since it's basically in competition with 100s of quality episodes of #StarTrek from 20 years ago, that don't require you to come back next week, or spend 10 hours, to get the full story.🤔

#AllStarTrek I don't like to compare old (or whatever the heck #StarTrekEnterprise is, 00s Trek?) to #NuTrek, but Enterprise's episodes #Afflication and #Divergence handled Klingon morphological changes WAY better than whatever that was that #StarTrekDiscovery was doing (although I did enjoy that Timekeeper Krampus look👍).

@iteration523 I've never enjoyed the mystery box reveal of any of these #nutrek shows. The moment they dangle a mystery in front of me, it just turns me off now. I know it's gonna be some bad bullshit like "a psychic kid got sad once" or "android body that works like normal body".

One of the reasons I'm looking forward to #StarTrekPicard3 is that #TerryMatalas is in charge of the whole season, and his stuff in the last season was great (amid a terrible season otherwise).

Everything he's been saying about what he wanted to make and do has been making me go "yes, FINALLY". Fans that have discounted "#nuTrek" as being all like #DIS season 1 are missing out. It's not 2017 anymore.

#StarTrek #Enterprise S1E21, 'Detained', should give anybody who says "#NuTrek is too political and doesn't use enough allegory!" a little pause for thought I think.

It's a bit of a clumsy episode, but I think it's still powerful, and has aged well.
