@stevenbodzin right on red makes me nuts. I was on it early morning so it wasn't terrible. Better than nothing. I told #NYCDOT the center hashed yellow area was a waste of space and they should make #WestEmdAvenue a chicane to slow the drivers down. Center running at best preseves parking spaces. I will make it to King Street. #Valencia was something I wanted to see. Pretty well used when I was on it. No one had the top heavy load I did.

If NYCDOT says they don't have enough Jersey Barriers, a reminder they are stockpiled in LIC under the Pulaski Bridge. These are the Yodock style ones. The ones you fill with water. Thinking instant bike lanes.

Open streets for biking, running and more on #SummerStreets in #Manhattan and what a beautiful day for it. Had so much fun biking down & back, and even got free vegan yogurt samples! Highly recommend getting an early start before the afternoon heat kicks in, haha.

Will be writing NYCDOT about how Google Maps is likely the cause of most traffic and much congestion. Me writing Google is worthless but the NYCDOT should carry some heft.

My guess is that the traffic on any busway will disappear mainly because Google Maps will stop suggesting it. Maybe they can stop suggesting it and save construction costs?

A neighbor who is against the W103rd open street has inadvertently publicised the NYC DOT Car Share program by telling us there is a vehicle in an assigned spot at 99th and Riverside Drive and that DOT is getting $475 for the spot. $475 is much more than $0.

This one is at the Bronx School of Young Leaders MS331 - 40 W Tremont Avenue - The Bronx, NY 10453 from 5:30pm til about 7:30pm. Going with B train. Hope there are a people there who live there and that general public is not outnumbered by NYC agency staff.

Going to Re-Envisioning the Cross Bronx Expressway workshops. Very few non-agency people show up. Very few locals show up. Recently went to Crotona Park and Walter Gladwin Park. Both parks are amazing though #Crotona Park had the constant background hum of the CBE and from Walter Gladwin Park one could see too easily the eyesore of the #CBE. #NYC is crapped on by #DOT and especially the #Bronx. Any other area would have barriers around its highways but not NYC.

@atthenius @capntransit What is particularly interesting is that while the original motivation was to daylight Tibbetts Brook, #NYCDOT has signed on to add or create greenway segments from Van Cortlandt Park down to #RandallsIsland. The segments are VCP to #UniversityHeightsBridge, UHB to #MacombsDamBridge, MDB to Randalls Island.

@memory @Andres4NY @richmintz Yes! I took pictures this morning because the sinkhole that #NYCparks and #NYCdot ‘fixed’ is now looking like it is undercut by erosion and perhaps subject to collapse.

I hope we don’t get shutdown again this summer. But they need to bring out a big piece of sheet metal at least before it collapses in earnest.

Opposite Billings Lawn somewhat north of Inspiration Point on the Empire State Trail roughly at GPS coordinates 40°51'36.3"N 73°56'07.6"W or 40.860078, -73.935440 there is a terribly narrow pinch point. 9A has three driving lanes AND immense breakdown lane. This construction is jeopardizing the safety of the bicyclists who have to share a two way path next to a light pole.

Riverside Drive (RSD) is generally car free at non-rush hours. Side streets are likely never busy and ALL should be slow streets all the time. The question for the side streets is how to accomplish that cheaply. Probably one or two remotely controlled bollards on each side street would do it.
