@tardisgrl sorry to hear you were knocked out in the second round 😕 but glad you find it a great learning experience. What is this #NYCMidnight hashtag you used? 👀
Somehow made it through to round three of the #NYCMidnight short story challenge. Struggled through a grueling 48 hours of plotting, writing and editing a 1.5k word romcom story---it's hard to make something read as breezy.
Finally hit submit and felt my soul leave my body. Don't know if I'll make it to the final round but do feel like I gave it my all.

I have a very rough draft of the 100-word story (24 hour challenge, 5am-5am, makes sense in originating timezone) and it's just occurred to me that my ideas for both that and the 3,000-word story centre around elderly people. #NYCMidnight #NYCMicrofictionChallenge #MicrofictionChallenge100 #AmWriting

Polishing my 2nd round short story for #nycmidnight and I’ve realized I have the backbone for a middle-grades adventure. That’s THREE projects in hopper in search of an agent. #amwriting #writingcommunity #amwritingfantasy

@dmcgk I hear this! I’m combining genres in the hopes that one will act as a foil for the one I was actually assigned. I’m asking a lot of my 2500 words 😂 #ShortStoryChallenge2023 #NYCMidnight

@tardisgrl actively trying to stay on the ‘creative interpretation’ side of disqualification while mashing my prompts into something workable!

My first prompt: a crime caper in a kindergarten featuring a proud mother…
So just your bog-standard Muppet Babies / Oceans 11 mashup.

It’s round 2 of the #nycmidnight 250 word microfiction competition. I’ve until midnight tonight New York time to write a 250 word story which is a drama, has the action of losing a key in it, and contains the word ‘vest’ somewhere.
Not feeling too confident over here, but it’s a good exercise regardless of the outcome ☺️

I got through to round 2 of the #nycmidnight 250 word microfiction competition 🥳 very unexpected that.

@Alexis_WordsUnbound “….no one else will see” fits the bill, LOL. Uploading problem 🤬 kept me from my advanced round in the #NYCMidnight competition last week, relegating my epic rhyming short story to the dust of the garret floor. Despite that, it was a welcome reminder that I DO know how to sit my butt in the chair and do the work. 🥳 Thanks for the positive reminder.
@chrisvolion Chris, congrats on your Honorable Mention! Did you see that the email results came in? I placed 3rd in my group, so I will advance. Starts Thursday. Yikes! #NYCMidnight #Writers
This is a tosser that I put together for the first round of the #NYCMIDNIGHT rhyming story challenge (prompts: Romantic Comedy / Fulfillment / Skeptical), in no particular meter. A few more days until results are announced... https://bit.ly/3EAEICm

Who else did the #NYCMidnight #nycmidnight microfiction contest this year? My genre was #scifi and it was actually really cool to have to think about how to do it - huge fan of reading sci fi, I’ve never actually tried to write any.
@soyouSED my genre was fairy tale/fantasy. I'm not sure I really hit that on the head. My prompts were blowing bubbles underwater and the word Crisp. I had to really stretch for the word lol. I like the form of flash fiction a lot, although I'm actually a poet. Still learning a lot! #nycmidnight
Submitted my 250-word #suspense #microfiction for #nycmidnight last night. One of my favorite challenges to participate in (even if the deadlines give me the heebs).

I liked this little guide I saw from my Discord writing group. Meant to help those who’ve never written suspense before. #nycmidnight #microfictionchallenge250
