Heard the following: 'The Parks Department seems to be a roving swimming ban - whenever it acquires new territory, "no swimming" signs appear automatically. They have claimed about 60 blocks of the East River shoreline, the 79th Street Boat Basin and that stupid little park they are building in Chelsea, as well as Little Island or whatever it's called.'

Either #NYCParksAndRecreation or #RiversideParkConservancy planted about 5 native
cherry trees at 100th street ramp of the #WestSideHighway . A very clever undertaking.

Participated in a #NYCParksAndRecreation sponsored tree planting in #AlleyPondPark in #Queens #NYC this morning. There's always something to learn. Incredible. Lots of volunteers. Only 150 trees. Learned that parks is using motorized hand held augurs to dig holes. A wonderful advance. On #EarthDay April 22, about 2000 trees will be planted in Alley Pond Park.
