Looks like #NZLabour 's plan to remove GST from Nero (TM) brand fiddles isn't working out for them.
@runoutgroover IMHO there are massive differences between #NZLabour and #UKLabour not least because of the presence and influence of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Māori MPs, and history within Aotearoa of suffrage movement and gay liberation. And first elected trans woman MP, Georgina Beyer. All very influential in NZ party's understanding of human issues. I can't see any of that understanding in UK Labour, maybe a bit of the suffrage background but not much else.
One problem with NZ Labour - and liberal parties in general - is that they're caught in a vicious cycle. When their support goes down in the polls, like most of the news media, they interpret it as evidence that their policies are too "radical", and alienating the mythical "centre" where "middle NZ" live. So they cut transformative policies and dog whistle at people influenced by right-wing populism. So their support goes down in the polls. Rinse, repeat.

#NZLabour are a spent party. They have no vision and no real purpose beyond putting a pink-tinged figleaf on neoliberal policies.
I spend around $40 a week on fruit and veges. Gst off would be great, thanks.
Hipkins slamming the NatACTS for proposing tax cuts that mostly benefit the wealthy... while ruling out desperately needed wealth taxes - morally equivalent to tax cuts - is rank hypocrisy. Hopefully the anti-NatACT public respond by shifting their votes from Labour to the Greens, Te Pāti Māori, and TOP. All of whom support making making the wealthy pay their fair share of tax.

There is an alternative universe where #nzlabour go into an election with a progressive manifesto which targets inequality and fires up the left. That is not this universe and it will never be.
@lightweight@social.fossdle.org @bigblen sadly, it seems I've substantially over estimated #NZLabour.
#NZLabour again proving they are spineless. Not even willing to introduce policies people want
"I'm confirming today that under a Government I lead there will be no wealth or capital gains tax after the election. End of story," Chris Hipkins
When recent polling showed a clear majority of kiwi's support a wealth tax
NSW Labor Gvt to ensure greater tenancy protection..
#NZLabour should follow suit.
If #nzlabour can manage to form Gvt in October 2023 - it will ONLY do so with the support of #nzgreen and #tepātimāori
That means the opportunity for some transformational change, not tinkering incrementalism.
2023 poses two very different futures for the country. #nzpol

I'm loving how completely limp this #NZNational opposition is. Pathetic. Sadly, #NZLabour is little better. Time to replace the 'major' parties and relegate them to 'minor' status.

Extract from email to #NZGreen members:
Now is the time, unlike any other in #NewZealand history, to support the #GreenParty.
The recent #climate events here ... have brought our vision into sharp focus. ... we've also seen #inequality spiral out of control. As #inflation rises, large corporations haven't let a good #crisis go to waste. ...
... recent cuts to Green policy have shown that [#NZLabour] is willing to compromise on the future of our #planet. We need ... real change.

Well .. new #NZPrimeMinister and its good to hear that throwback to the 1970s that was #NZLabour Broadcasting Policy is being tipped overboard https://www.stuff.co.nz/business/131085216/what-would-become-of-tvnz-and-rnz-if-their-merger-is-shelved - Perhaps the next victim will be the centralisation of drinking water management. #Kiwis seem to prefer a bit of #Localism
