One of my favourite #seascape photos. Stanley Bay, looking toward Auckland city, after a storm has just cleared. The exposure took careful balancing with 3 graduated ND filters.

I used the edge of the rocks in the foreground, the lights on the quay, and the quay itself, to create a leading line toward the Skytower on the horizon.

Setting sun at Muriwai beach (2022). Auckland's West Coast beaches often generate some lovely sunsets. However, they are still cut off from visitors after the devastation of Cyclone Gabrielle.

Here I've slowed the shutter peed a smidgeon to produce some motion lines in the surf.

Setting sun at Te Henga, looking north to Erangi Point. Auckland's West Coast beaches are often the best place to see a sunset, although it's often a gamble on what you'll see.

Sadly none of these beaches are accessible at the moment because of the damage caused by Cyclone Gabrielle.

And for #waterfallwednesday here's a picture of the Waitangi Waterfall from the Omeru Reserve. This reserve is just north of #Auckland. A #longexposure was used to smooth the flow of the water.

I liked the patterned rocks, mosses and ferns in the foreground of the image, which I think, lifts the shot from being just a wall of water.

This photo of the Waitangi Waterfall is from the Omeru Reserve, north of #Auckland.

For this composition I've emphasised the framing effect of the native trees and ferns. Waterfalls are common in many NZ forests, which means the scenes have a lot of green hues in them.

Photo of the #HaurakiGulf from Waiake. This shot was taken from the rocks by the Tor, and I'm looking toward Rangitoto Island on the horizon.

The sea was very calm, and the effect was enhanced by using a long exposure. It's after sunset, which is giving the sky and water this hue.

These #flowers were photographed against a white background, with an overhead view. To capture the depth and detail of the image, I took multiple photos at different focal points, and stacked them.

This scene is downstream of the Pohuehue Falls, north of Auckland. I liked the multiple steps this stream had to descend over. Even of the steep banks to get to the scene were a challenge! This version has been updated using #CaptureOnePro
