This is a fundamental difference I have with right wing ideas.
Yes, landlords can choose who to rent their place to but the State has a responsibility with all. The same way that public healthcare is available to the most vile criminals. State housing is the last safety net and cannot be made contingent on good behaviour.
Addressing the behaviour does not require making people homeless on purpose

I have a goal. I literally want to be the first person to cast my vote, digitally signed with a witness, as soon as ballot papers are available.

I am in the electorate of Dunedin, and I plan to vote two ticks Green this election.

I’ve voted Green since my first general election (well Alliance that first time) in an attempt to pull Labour left. I’m tired. I’m tired of being disappointed by a lack of progressivism in our government. This year, for the first time, I am considering voting Te Pāti Māori because of their tax policy. Aotearoa’s tax system is criminally regressive and punitive. We treat poor folks like they deserve it when it was the intention of the system from the start (see Māori Land Court). #nzpol #votenz
