Kirsten Wise says (I paraphrase) that she thinks the reason the reason the crime stats don't match the perceived rise in crime is that people don't report crimes to the police anymore.

Because everyone knows crime is rampant, we just need to explain why we're not seeing it.

Some political and media pundits say Chris Luxon's gaffes & U turn trainwreck of a week signals the beginning of the end as he enters dead man walking territory after his own and Nationals polling tank.
We had Whaleoil openly slagging him others saying the pattern of gaffes will prove fatal to Luxon further confirmation of his unfitness & incompetence to do the job as he auditions to be PM. The more we see Luxon the more voters loathe and are put off by him.
