NZSO concert last night was fabulous. Rhapsody in Blue a total delight, and the Blues Symphony by Marsalis an incredible performance. It’s the sort of piece where you don’t know what is coming next. All sorts of bells, whistles, triangles, and drums. Conductor André de Ridder looked to have superb control throughout, and a great rapport with the orchestra. The pianist, Simon Tedeschi, was just outstanding. What a great nigh!. #WellingtonConcert, #MichaelFowlerCentre, #NZSO, #Gershwin, #Marsalis

Just been to a great performance of The Messiah - The Tudor Consort with the NZ Symphony Orchestra. The soprano soloist, Emma Pearson, was clearly enjoying it and barely restrained herself from singing along with the chorus. She and fellow Aussie mezzo-soprano Deborah Humble were both great. Samoan tenor Lila Crichton was superb. The bass soloist was NZ born Samoan baritone Samson Seth, who had stepped in to cover at the last minute- a wonderful voice despite the odd slip up. Two thumbs up #NZSO
I missed the #NZSO's Truth and Beauty concert last night because it was rescheduled and I thought it was tonight (the original scheduled date). COVID-19 really is a pain in the ears https://www.nzso.co.nz/concerts-and-tickets/immerse-2022/hilary-hahn/
