Thought on the bike into work today, when a souped up car wizzed past me, until I caught up with them at the lights! What if we had a tax for how you travel? But, you say, we already have RUC! But, that only gets diesel users. What if we charge a RUC for every vehicle on the road? The highest users of resources pay the most (diesel trucks) down to bikes (the metals & road)? The Greens have just released a tax calculator to see what you'd pay/receive under their tax proposal. I did it and I'll be slightly better off but the best news was that my son, at a Teritary Institution, wouldn't have to have a part time job anymore.
