This is just as much a sports nerd account as it is a political/feminist/rants about everyday life account.
And with the beautiful finish to the second test between New Zealand and England, I decided to praise that game, test cricket in general, and the excellent spirit of this friendliest of test series on my blog:

A test series usually ends with both teams hanging out together for a bit, having drinks and chatting. It doesn't usually end with both teams spending the entire evening together, playing games, and the victorious bowlers celebrating in their own traditional way before they return to hang out with the opposition, and definitely doesn't usually feature multiple players on both teams saying how much they enjoy the opposition's company.
England vs New Zealand is always an exceptionally enjoyable series, on the field, and off. You don't get this much friendliness between international teams, and I love it so much π€π

Getting on a flight with the #NZvEng #cricket coming to an end.
England needing 90, Root and Stokes set. Oh well. I guess England will win it from here.

Earlier today I was faced with the choice of going to the Basin for the final session, or going to my hotel and doing work... I chose very poorly.
Well done @BLACKCAPS, that's a finish to remember
@ArrestJK @esoterica Only 4 times have a team won a #Cricket Test match after being sent back in to bat.
1. England beat Australia by 10 runs, Sydney 1894
2. England beat Australia by 18 runs, Headingley 1981
3. India beat Australia by 171 runs, Kolkata, 2001
4. New Zealand beat England by 1 run, Wellington, 2023
#NZvENG
That was about as tense as it gets. 5-day test match won by a single run. Well done #BlackCaps! #NZvENG
Let's be honest, a more objective and less romantic umpire would have had to call a wide on the previous delivery, but what a ridiculous, unlikely and frankly stupid win. Heart will stop pounding eventually presumably #NZvENG
Absolutely phenomenal test match with the Blackcaps. Couldn't be more down-to-the-wire if they tried!
