If we want to track the result of an ocean alkalinity enhancement (#OAE) for ocean CO₂ removal (#CDR), a tracer release followed by continuous survey for ~3 weeks is reasonable.
To do so from a suitable ship (day rate $50k/day) will cost $1 million for just 20 days of ship time.
The point is, this ain't gonna be cheap. People assume that we can just dump some rocks or some NaOH into the ocean and the job is finished. However, doing it right and having proper MRV will be expensive.
